If Cameron Diaz has her way, Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez could soon be swinging for a Hollywood hit.

Diaz is reportedly mulling a romantic comedy that would star her real-life leading man as her on-screen leading man.

“The Green Hornet” actress’ idea is conveniently set around Major League Baseball, a source close to her told the Daily Express, a British newspaper.

Diaz has been spending her spring in Tampa, watching the highest-paid man in baseball and the Bombers tune up for their home opener Thursday.

Until now, her interest in baseball has been linked more to her romance with A-Rod than research.

“She’s very excited about developing her own projects, and the fact this one is about a baseball player means she has good reason to spend more time with A-Rod and the Yankees,” the source said.

“She’s even thinking that Alex could star in the movie with her.”

A-Rod, 35, who has also dated Hollywood actress Kate Hudson and once fell under part-time movie star Madonna‘s kabbalah spell, has appeared only in commercials.

Last July, Variety magazine reported he was slated to make his acting debut in the romantic comedy “Friends With Benefits,” but the role never materialized.

If Rodriguez gets the green light this time, he’ll be the third New York pro ball player to co-star with Diaz in a movie.

Giants defensive legend Lawrence Taylor played the role of Luther (Shark) Lavay opposite Diaz in the 1999 Oliver Stone football film “Any Given Sunday.”

Former Jets quarterback Brett Favre played a romantic interest of Diaz’s in the 1998 Farrelly brothers movie “There’s Something about Mary.”

Rodriguez would also become the second active Yankee with a movie credit. Bombers captain Derek Jeter played a down-and-out Derek Jeter in last year’s action-comedy “The Other Guys.”
