Come the end of the month, Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center will be heating up, and all for a great cause.
Musicians Juan Luis Guerra and Juanes will play together on one stage in an effort to help the victims of hurricane Sandy not only in spirit, but in finances as well. The much anticipated concert to be held on Saturday November 24, 2012, has promised to donate 100% of the money it raises to the American Red Cross.
“We’ve both been blessed to have had extraordinary support throughout our careers from fans in the New York area and across the Caribbean,” said Guerra and Juanes according to NBC Latino. “With so many people from these regions now facing immense hardships, we want to show our deep appreciation by utilizing our music to both raise spirits and more importantly, raise much-needed funds to help them through these times of great need.”
The show, which has been made possible with help from Barclays Center and producerCardenas Marketing Network, will be the first Latin concert performed at this location.
“The devastation brought by Hurricane Sandy has affected millions of people, but thanks to the support of generous donors such as Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes and CMN, the Red Cross is there for them, providing immediate relief now, and staying on the job as people move toward recovery. We’re grateful for their dedication to helping the Red Cross help those who need us,” Senior Vice President of Communications of the American Red Cross, Roger Lowe, stated.
This past February Juan Luis Guerra and Juanes met up to produce Juanes’ sixth album,Tr3s Presents Juanes: MTV Unplugged. The album was a huge success garnering nominations at the Latin Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Long Form Music Video, and song “Azul Sabina” was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
The Brooklyn show will be the only one on the Unplugged tour that the two artists will perform together, and those attending on the 24th of this month can expect more of the same greatness the two artists have come to be known for. The two may make big music, but it’s nice to hear that they have even bigger hearts. [Latina]
