Ricky Martin’s return to Broadway with newest revival of “Evita” surpassed critics and fan expectations, creating yet another smash hit for the Puerto Rican pop icon. Show producers Hal Luftig and Scott Sanders announced Monday that Martin – as well as Argentinean songstress Elena Roger (as Eva Perón) and Michael Cerveris (as Juan Perón) – will be ending their run on the hit production of the musical, just ten months after “Evita” opened to audiences on April 5, 2012.
No announcement about Martin’s replacement on the Broadway show has yet been made.
The smash hit – about the rise of Eva Perón to First Lady and political icon – marked Martin’s return to Broadway, after having played the role of Marius in Les Misérables in 1996.
